Trends in Differentials in Morbidity and Mortality: Analysis and Explanation

The EAPS Working Group on Differentials in Health, Morbidity and Mortality in Europe organised its fifth seminar in Pontignano, Italy. The seminar was arranged in collaboration with the Università
degli Studi di Siena, the Facoltà di Scienze Politiche and Dipartimento di Studi Aziendali e Sociali (Prof.ssa Cinzia Buccianti). The purpose of the seminar was to discuss problems dealing with the
analysis and explanation of trends in differentials in health, morbidity and mortality. Since earlier seminars of the Working Group mainly dealt with problems in the measurement and explanation of differentials
in morbidity and mortality during one period of time the focus was now on changes in differentials. Particularly from the public health point of view it is important to know to what extent differentials between
population groups are diminishing or increasing and what the causes for changes are. The number of participants was restricted.
